Oberdorf is a district of the municipality of Langenargen in the Lake Constance district of Baden-Württemberg in Germany .

The district of Oberdorf is located in the southeast of the Lake Constance district, around five and a half kilometers northeast of the Langenargen town center in the extended Argental , north of the federal road 31 and east of the Tettnang Forest .

history

Oberdorf was first mentioned in a document in 769: at that time a Scalcomann transferred his property in “ Operindorf ” to the monastery in St. Gallen . A second mention is documented for the year 839, when Sigibret and Patacho exchanged their property for those in Berlingen with the monastery.

In the 13th and 14th centuries , the property changed between the Counts of Bregenz, the Counts of Montfort and the St. Johann monastery in Constance , until after several divisions of the estate in 1354 the boundaries of the district were determined.

In 1810 Oberdorf came to the Kingdom of Württemberg together with the Tettnang District Office .

Between 1914 and 1918, sixteen men from Oberdorf were killed during the First World War . The war memorial at the parish church commemorates them; The following inscription can be read on the base of the monument: Those who pass by here in peace also remember the victims of all wars.

Oberdorf was merged with the municipality of Langenargen on April 1, 1937 as part of the municipal reform.

During the Second World War , 15 young men from Oberdorf fell, six are missing. They were used by the Wehrmacht on various fronts until 1945. They are also remembered through the war memorial.

Parish Church of St. Wendelin

The Catholic parish church of St. Wendelin was built in 1908. On the south wall of the choir hangs an oil painting of St. Wendelin , the patron saint of shepherds, farmers and cattle, by Andreas Brugger .

Historic inns

  • Gasthof Adler : origin in the 16th century, owned by the Lanz / Kugel family since 1710; the house served as a film set for 31 SWR episodes of the Swabian television series " Der Eugen ".
  • The stag : In 1783 the “imperial, royal, serf subjects Josef Brugger, landlord in Oberdorf” and his heirs were given the estate as a fief. The fiefdom letter from 1783 from his "Roman, imperial, royal, apostolic majesty, senior councilors of the imperial counts and lords of Tettnang, Argen and Schomburg" is still displayed in the guest room and refers to the old past of the house. Since then, the estate and pub have been family-owned.

Oberdorf is located north of the federal highway 31, the district road 7706 (Langenargen- B467 / Gießenbrücke ) runs through the village .

Via Langenargen, Oberdorf belongs to the Bodensee-Oberschwaben transport association (bodo) . Oberdorf can be reached by bus on lines 224 ( Tettnang - Mariabrunn -Langenargen- Kressbronn- Tettnang), 225 (Tettnang-Kressbronn-Langenargen-Tettnang) and 7587 ( RAB , Friedrichshafen -Langenargen-Kressbronn).

Educational institutions

In Oberdorf there is the Catholic-run kindergarten “St. Theresia ”and a primary school on Tettnanger Strasse; it consists of a mixed year class with levels 1 and 2.
