The place Oberehe was mentioned for the first time in 1218 in a confirmation document from Archbishop Engelbert I of Cologne to the monastery Niederehe . Between 1696 and 1698, Oberehe Castle was built as a country seat by Johann Christoph von Veyder, who at that time was the ducal Arenberg governor of Kerpen . Until the 18th century, upper marriage belonged to the Kerpen rule .

In 1794 the area around Oberehe was occupied by French revolutionary troops during the First Coalition War. At that time the lands and goods belonged to Count von Metternich . From 1798 to 1814 Oberehe belonged to the canton of Daun in the Saardepartement . On November 12, 1811, Count von Metternich was expropriated by the French government. After the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna , Oberehe came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . There the place came the following year through a regional reform to the district of Daun in the administrative district of Trier in the Rhine province . Since 1816 Oberehe was administered by the mayor's office of Hillesheim .

After the Second World War , Oberehe belonged to the French occupation zone , part of which the former Rhine province came to the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . 1968 was from the mayor Hillesheim Hillesheim municipality established. On November 7, 1970, Oberehe merged with the neighboring municipality of Stroheich to form the new municipality of Oberehe-Stroheich.
