The Oberhohenberg area is a landscape protection area in the area of the town of Schömberg in the Zollernalb district, which was designated by the Rottweil district office responsible at the time .
location
The Oberhohenberg conservation area is located about 1.8 km southeast of the Schömberg district of Schörzingen and 1 km west of Deilingen-Delkhofen . It includes the entire mountain cone of the Zeugenberg Oberhohenberg , whose summit is 1010 m above sea level. NN is the second highest in the Swabian Alb. The lowest point of the protected area is in the north at 861 m above sea level. NN . The area belongs to the natural area Hohe Schwabenalb .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Areas Ordinance, the main protection purpose is to protect the landscape component against “disfigurement”. The landscape protection area was placed under protection in a collective ordinance of the Rottweil district responsible for Schörzingen at the time, in which the protection purpose was not defined in more detail.
Landscape character
The striking Zeugenberg is largely forested. In the north and east of the area there are also open land areas, some of which have relictic wet meadow and dry grass vegetation. There are two former quarries in the area, one on the western flank and one on the southern flank of the Oberhohenberg. The top of the mountain is planted with a rubble forest. The western slope of the knoll is formed by a 10 m high rock wall.
Contiguous protected areas
In the landscape protection area lies completely in the bird sanctuary Südwestalb and Oberes Donautal . In the north, the FFH area borders Großer Heuberg and Danube Valley .
