The Mittleres Starzeltal area is a landscape protection area designated by the Hechingen District Office on October 10, 1963 by ordinance in the area of the city of Hechingen and the communities of Bisingen and Rangendingen in Zollernalbkreis .

location

The landscape protection area Mittleres Starzeltal extends east from Hechingen to the northern district boundary near Rangendingen. It includes the Starzel section between Hechingen-Stein and Rangendingen and some Starzel tributaries with the surrounding forest areas, including Sulzbach, Ramsbach, Möchsgraben and Zimmerbach, which also forms the southeastern outer border of the area.

Landscape character

The area is largely forested. The forest edge locations around Rangendingen are characterized by orchards, around Hechingen there are larger grassland and fields. There are also some former sheep pastures in the nature reserve, for example the Martinsberg near Hechingen.

history

The landscape protection area has been reduced in size several times since it was designated. The reason for this was the designation of several nature reserves, which led to a reduction of a total of 85 hectares. In addition, several planned building areas were removed from the landscape protection area in 2004

Contiguous protected areas

The nature reserves Hohegert , Winterhalde , Lauchhalde and Espenloch-Hintere Halde border the nature reserve . Smaller areas belong to the FFH areas Rammert , Neckar and side valleys near Rottenburg and areas between Bisingen, Haigerloch and Rosenfeld .

The landscape protection area Mittleres Starzeltal borders directly on the landscape protection area Rauher Rammert in the north .
