Oktavio Philipp von Boehn (born January 29, 1824 in Klein Silkow , † July 30, 1899 in Berlin ) was a Prussian officer , most recently a general of the infantry .

Life

origin

He was the son of Heinrich August Friedrich Ferdinand von Boehn (born January 19, 1786 in Scharsow ; † April 6, 1863 in Potsdam ) and his wife Philippine Henriette Friederike, born von Eckard (born November 26, 1789 in Stolp ; † 17. February 1871 in Köslin ). His father was a master at Groß- and Klein-Silkow as well as a lieutenant a. D. The later Prussian lieutenant general Julius Heinrich von Boehn (1820-1893) was his older brother.

Military career

Boehn was brought up in his parents' house and joined the 9th Infantry Regiment (called Colbergsches) of the Prussian Army in Stettin as a musketeer on October 19, 1840 . Here he was appointed Portepeefähnrich on March 10th and promoted to Second Lieutenant on August 12th, 1841 . From mid-October 1847 to mid-March 1848 Boehn attended the General War School .

During the war against Austria in 1866 as a major and battalion commander in the Kaiser Franz Regiment, Boehn was awarded the order Pour le Mérite . As leader of this regiment, he was wounded in the Franco-Prussian War at the Battle of Saint-Privat-la-Montagne . After his recovery, in December 1870, he became a leader and later commander of the 1st Guards Regiment on foot . After he had been promoted to major general in 1875 and commander of the 2nd Guard Infantry Brigade, he took his leave in 1876, but this was not approved. He was transferred to the army officers and in 1877 commander of the 58th Infantry Brigade. In 1880 he received the leadership of the 21st Division , in 1886 the VI. Army Corps . In 1888 Boehn was appointed general of the infantry. On January 12, 1889, Boehn was put at the disposal of the Kaiser Franz Garde Grenadier Regiment No. 2 with a pension and at the same time à la suite .

Boehn was one of the few Prussian officers who had made it to the commanding general without having been on the general staff .

family

He married Gabriele Countess zur Lippe-Biesterfeld-Weißenfeld on June 2, 1852 in Baruth (* March 24, 1827 in Baruth; † December 24, 1863 in Berlin). After her death, Boehn married Marie Luise Henriette Sophie Karoline Freiin Löw von und zu Steinfurth on March 30, 1868 in Darmstadt (born April 28, 1839 in Braunfels , † November 3, 1914 in Berlin-Friedenau ).
