Olga Alexejewna Putschkowa ( Russian Ольга Алексеевна Пучкова , English transcription Olga Puchkova ; born September 27, 1987 in Moscow , then Soviet Union ) is a former Russian tennis player .

Career

Putschkova played tennis professionally since 2002. She was quite successful at junior events and celebrated her first title win in 2003 at the ITF Women's Circuit . In 2006 she succeeded at the US Open for the first time in the main field of a Grand Slam tournament , where she failed in the first round. Just two weeks later she reached her first WTA final in Calcutta , which she lost to Martina Hingis 0: 6, 4: 6 .

At the end of October 2006, Putschkowa also reached the final at the WTA tournament in Québec . In the quarter-finals, her opponent, world number twelfth Jelena Janković , gave up at 2: 6, 6: 4 and 3: 1. A hard-fought three-set victory in the semifinals over Séverine Brémond (2: 6, 6: 0, 7: 5) was followed by a final defeat against Marion Bartoli with the "maximum penalty" (0: 6, 0: 6) in tennis.

Putschkowa celebrated her greatest sporting success in 2012 when she reached the third round of the US Open , in which she was defeated by the later semi-finalist Sara Errani with 1: 6, 1: 6.

Putschkowa played her last professional tournament in October 2017. She has not been in the world rankings since summer 2018.
