Olivier Jenot (born February 28, 1988 in Monaco ) is a Monegasque ski racer . He mainly starts in the disciplines Super-G , Giant Slalom and Combined and has already taken part in several Olympic Games and World Championships .

biography

Olivier Jenot took part in the Junior World Championships twice, the best result he achieved in 2008 in Formigal 26th place in the slalom. At the age of 17, he made his debut in the European Cup , where he has so far reached the points twice, in 2009 in the giant slalom on Monte Pora and in 2017 in the combination of Méribel . On February 21, 2009 Jenot made his World Cup debut in the giant slalom in Sestriere . Since then he has started sporadically in all disciplines except slalom, but he has not yet been able to score points. He achieved his best result in February 2016 with 40th place in the Super-G on the Jeongseon Olympic course . In March 2012 he won the international British Slalom Championships, his greatest international success to this day.

Along with Arnaud Alessandria , Jenot is one of only two male Monegasque who have already taken part in major alpine events several times. He made his first appearance at the 2006 Winter Olympics , where he competed in super-G, giant slalom and slalom. Eight years later he made four starts in Sochi and achieved his best result with 28th place in the super combined. As part of World Championships Jenot debuted in 2009 in Val d'Isere , scoring with rank 25 in the slalom his best result at a major event. He also competed in the technical disciplines in Garmisch 2011 and Schladming 2013 .

On February 8, 2017, he suffered a serious fall as one of several runners in the World Cup Super-G in St. Moritz . During a jump he lost his balance and after 60 meters in the air hit his back hard on the slope, suffering internal bleeding . He was then operated on in the canton hospital in Chur and had to spend some time in the intensive care unit .

At his third Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang in 2018 , he competed in four disciplines and equaled his best result in the five rings with 28th place in the combination. For the first time he was placed in this discipline at a major event with the 29th downhill rank.
