The men's triathlon at the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis was decided on July 1 and 2, 1904 at Francis Field . The competition was a secondary ranking of the individual all-around gymnastics , which consisted of 12 disciplines. The three athletics disciplines below, long jump , shot put and 100-yard run (91.44 m) were also rated as a men's three -way fight in addition to the individual gymnastics all- around; the remaining nine gymnastics disciplines were also counted as a gymnastics triathlon . This form of competition was only on the Olympic program in St. Louis; Since the competition is a secondary ranking of the individual all-around gymnastics, it is occasionally assigned to the gymnastics disciplines at the 1904 Olympic Games.

The Americans had a triple success. Olympic champion was Max Emmerich . Silver went to John Grieb, bronze went to William Merz.
