The Elliott 6 m boat replaced the Yngling used in 2004 and 2008 as a 3-person keel boat.
The competition was carried out as a match race . First, every boat competed against every other. Every win gave a point. In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided the placement. The eight best boats made it to the quarter-finals, which were played in the best of five mode, i.e. H. the boat that won three first came one lap further. The semifinals, the bronze medal race and the final were also held in this mode. The losers of the quarterfinals sailed the placements from 5th to 8th place.
