As a qualification for the women's tournament at the 2016 Olympic Summer Games for the teams from the CONCACAF area , a qualification tournament that includes a pre-qualification and a final tournament, through which two teams qualify for the Olympic Games, serves for the fourth time. For the first time, the women's soccer teams of Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Lucia took part.

Of the 23 teams entered, the three strongest teams Canada , Mexico and the USA were directly qualified for the final tournament. Five Central American teams identified two other participants in the final tournament in a tournament in an each-versus-everyone mode, with Honduras withdrawing. Of the 15 teams registered in the Caribbean, twelve ultimately took part in a tournament, where three further participants were determined in group games and a subsequent knockout round.

Central America

The team from Honduras withdrew. All games were played in the Estadio Nacional de Fútbol in the Nicaraguan capital Managua . The two teams in the first places qualified for the final tournament

Group 2

The group games were originally supposed to take place in St. Lucia , but were then postponed because of Tropical Storm Erika . When the teams from Antigua and Barbuda and the Cayman Islands that had been drawn into the group were withdrawn, the group winner was determined in a round-trip between the two remaining teams. Both games took place at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva , Trinidad and Tobago .

Group 3

The games were originally supposed to take place in Suriname . After the team was withdrawn from Suriname, the event was transferred to the Dominican Republic. All games took place in the Estadio de Fútbol Panamericano de San Cristóbal .
