Latvia participated in the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix with a delegation of two athletes in two sports. The Latvian NOK had registered two athletes for the games, both of whom took part in the competitions.

Result: For the two Latvian athletes only the Olympic thought “Being there is everything.” The 32-year-old speed skater Alberts Rumba convinced the professional world with places between 10 and 16. He even finished the all-around event in seventh place. To this day, no Latvian speed skater has been better at international competitions. Roumba also took part in St. Moritz in 1928 . The second man in the team, Roberts "Reinis" Plūme (27), started cross-country skiing, but did not finish both competitions. It remained his only winter games as an athlete. But one should hear from him again a few years later when he was President of the NOC of Latvia between 1933 and 1934.
