Orlando Chaves

Orlando Chaves SDB (born February 17, 1900 in Campina Verde , Minas Gerais , Brazil , † August 15, 1981 ) was Archbishop of Cuiabá .

Life

Orlando Chaves joined the religious order of the Salesians of Don Bosco in and received on 10 July 1927 the Archbishop of Turin , Giuseppe Cardinal Gamba , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On February 29, 1948, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Corumbá . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Carlo Chiarlo , donated him episcopal ordination on May 27 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Sorocaba , José Carlos de Aguirre , and the Prelate of Rio Negro , Pedro Massa SDB.

Pope Pius XII appointed him on December 18, 1956 Archbishop of Cuiabá.

Orlando Chaves attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
