Bazaar in Ortaca

Ortaca is a district with the same name in the south-west of Turkey . Formerly part of Köyceğiz , Ortaca became independent in 1987 . Another city of Dalyan belongs to Ortaca County .

geography

Geographical location

Well-known neighboring towns are Dalaman and Dalyan .

The place name literally means "city in the middle", possibly a reference to its location in the middle of a plain. The city lives from this fertile plain with the cultivation of tomatoes , citrus fruits , cotton and pomegranates . Market day is Friday when numerous visitors from the surrounding area crowd into the city.

tourism

Tourist places in Ortaca County are Sarıgerme and Ortaca. Thanks to its location and the warm but windy Mediterranean climate , they enjoy a growing tourist influx. The summer guests come mainly from Great Britain , Germany and, in increasing numbers, from the successor states of the Soviet Union . Dalyan focuses on rather small hotels and guest houses. Sarıgerme with its kilometer-long sandy beach relies on travel agency tourism with several large multi-star hotels.

traffic

Ortaca is located on the D400 coastal road between Muğla and Fethiye . The Dalaman airport is about 15 minutes away, the small town of Dalyan 10 minutes and Sarıgerme 20 minutes. From the city's bus station (otogar) you can take a bus to Istanbul , Antalya and other major cities in Turkey. Dolmuş connections from here connect Ortaca to Sarıgerme, Dalyan, Fethiye, Muğla and Marmaris, among others .
