Oskar Schulz (politician)
Oskar Gerhard Waldemar Schulz (born February 2, 1920 in Butow, Pomerania Province ; † August 21, 2014 ) was a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ).
biography
education and profession
Schulz volunteered for the Wehrmacht in 1938 after graduating from high school so that he could study without interruption. In 1941 he was given leave of absence for two semesters to study law, but due to the war he was only able to continue his studies in 1948 and completed his training in 1955 with the second state examination in law. He was then briefly head of the legal department of the DGB Bremen and then assessor in the Lower Saxony judicial service. From 1956 to 1961 he was a judge at the Bremerhaven Labor Court. From 1959 to 1963 he was also a deputy member of the Bremen State Court. In June 1979 he was appointed to the board of the AG Weser as labor director .
politics
Schulz joined the SPD in 1957. In January 1962 he became a member of the city council of Bremerhaven, initially as a full-time city councilor for youth and social affairs in Bremerhaven, from June 1965 as city treasurer and shortly afterwards head of economic affairs. On October 21, 1970, he succeeded Karl Eggers (SPD) as Senator for Economics and Foreign Trade and on June 1, 1971, in addition, he became Senator for Finance in the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen under the leadership of the President of the Senate Hans Koschnick ( SPD). From 1971 to November 3, 1975 he was still Senator for Finance. Karl-Heinz Jantzen (SPD) succeeded him in both offices .
