The Osterfeld clay pits are a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city of Goslar in the Goslar district .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG BR 091 is 4 hectares in size. It is located in the southeast of the city of Goslar in the Harz Nature Park and is a former clay pit of a brick factory under protection. The excavation pit is partially limited by steep slopes. Parts of the nature reserve are overgrown with trees, other areas are grazed and thus kept open. Ruderal and pioneer vegetation can be found on the slopes and at the bottom of the pit . Numerous small and tiny bodies of water have been preserved as remains of the former use of the mine. They are of particular importance as spawning waters for amphibians .
The area has been a nature reserve since September 2, 1989. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Goslar.
