Otto Langemeyer (born March 20, 1883 in Holzminden ; † May 21, 1950 in Golmbach ) was a German officer , most recently General of the Air Force Aviators in World War II .

Early years and World War I

Langemeyer joined the 8th West Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 175 of the Prussian Army on January 11, 1902 . There he completed a machine gun training course at the Spandau rifle factory in the spring of 1906 . After a brief assignment to the 1st West Prussian Pioneer Battalion No. 17 in June 1907, Langemeyer returned to his regular regiment and served as a battalion adjutant and court officer from September 1907 to the end of September 1910. He then attended the Prussian War Academy in Berlin until September 1913 . During this time Langemeyer served from July to September 1911 in the 5th Baden Field Artillery Regiment No. 76 and from July to September 1913 in the Brunswick Hussar Regiment No. 17 . After returning to his regular regiment, Langemeyer was promoted to regimental adjutant, whose function he held until June 25, 1915 , beyond the outbreak of the First World War . On June 26, 1915 he was posted to the General Staff of III. Reserve Corps . From there, Langemeyer transferred to the General Staff of the Beskid Corps on April 1, 1916 . On November 19, 1916 he was posted to the staff of the 197th Division . There Langemeyer acted from May 20 to June 17, 1917 at the same time as battalion leader in Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 273. On December 27, 1917, Langemeyer transferred to the headquarters of the 214th Division , where he remained until October 16, 1918 . Subsequently, from October 17, 1918, beyond the end of the war, until January 2, 1919, he was deployed as chief quartermaster of the 3rd Army .

On January 3, 1919, Langemeyer returned to his main regiment, where he remained until it was demobilized at the end of January 1919.

Between the wars and the Second World War

From January 31 to October 24, 1919, Langemeyer served on the General Staff in the Army Peace Commission. On October 25, 1919, Langemeyer was assigned to the Reich Ministry of the Interior , where he served in the security police in Berlin until the end of November 1919. On November 30, 1919, he resigned from the Reichswehr and joined the police on the following day, simultaneously being appointed police major . From December 1919 to mid-April 1921 he was the commander of the security police in Braunschweig . On April 15, 1921, Langemeyer resigned from the police force and returned to civilian life.

On June 1, 1936, Langemeyer came to the Presidium of the Reich Air Protection Association , where he served as a group leader until May 22, 1936. He completed his probationary period as an E-Officer (supplementary officer ) in the Air Force from May 23 to September 13, 1936 at Luftkreis-Kommando II. Subsequently, Langemeyer served as a supplementary officer, from September 14, 1936 to June 17, 1937 as a group leader in the Reich Aviation Ministry (RLM). He held the same function from June 18, 1937 to the end of January 1938 in the 6th Department in the General Staff of the Air Force and from February 1938 to the end of January 1939 with the Quartermaster General in the RLM. On February 1, 1939, Langemeyer became Head of Department 4 at Quartermaster General. On March 1, 1944, he was transferred to the Führerreserve at the Air Force High Command (OKL) until he retired from military service on May 31, 1944. It was no longer used until the end of the war.
