Otto Friedrich Ferdinand von Gansauge (born October 21, 1804 in Brachstedt , † June 12, 1882 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 31st Infantry Brigade .

Life

origin

Otto was a son of Christian von Gansauge († 1821) and his wife Karoline, née Brand von Lindau. The composer August Harder dedicated his Opus No. 17 to it.

Military career

Gansauge visited the Berlin cadet house and on April 6, 1822 was transferred as a second lieutenant to the 14th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army . On April 19, 1822 he received an extraordinary grant of 50 thalers for his equipment. From 1826 to 1834 Gansauge was in command as adjutant and accounting officer in the 2nd Battalion in the 14th Landwehr Regiment. On his return he was appointed government adjutant on April 1, 1836 and promoted to lieutenant prime on February 12, 1838 . In 1845/46 he was assigned as a company commander in the 2nd Combined Reserve Battalion. There he was promoted to captain on May 23, 1846 and appointed company commander in the 14th Infantry Regiment on June 5, 1846 . During the unrest in Poland in 1848 he took part in the battle near Trzemeszno and received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class with swords. With a patent from August 16, 1843, Gansauge was transferred to the 3rd Infantry Regiment on September 18, 1849 and rose to major in mid-January 1850 and battalion commander in early October 1850. On September 22, 1851 he was appointed commander of the III. Battalion transferred to the 1st Landwehr Regiment. After his promotion to lieutenant colonel , he was reassigned to the 3rd Infantry Regiment at the beginning of November 1855. He married on April 11, 1832 in Hohensalza Aurore Juliane Ottilie Pauswang (1811–1871), a daughter of the regimental doctor Karl Heinrich Pauswang.
