Pamela Reed (born April 2, 1949 in Tacoma , Washington ) is an American actress .

Life

Reed studied art at the University of Washington , where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts . In the 1983 film The Stuff Heroes Are Made of, she appeared alongside Sam Shepard , Scott Glenn , Ed Harris and Dennis Quaid . She played one of the leading roles in the 1988 television series Tanner '88, directed by Robert Altman . In the comedy Cadillac Man (1990) she played one of the larger roles alongside Robin Williams and Tim Robbins . In the comedies Kindergarten Cop (1990) and Junior (1994) she played alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger . In the thriller Signs of Life - Proof of Life (2000) she played alongside Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe . She was nominated for the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for her role. In the animated series The Simpsons , she lent her voice to the character Ruth Powers, a neighbor of the Simpsons. Since 2015 she takes onthe role of Roberta Deeks in the television series Navy CIS: LA .

Reed has been married to director Sandy Smolan since 1988 and has two adopted children.
