John Parco (* 25. August 1971 in Sault Ste Marie. , Ontario ) is a former Italo - Canadian ice hockey player and current - trainer , who in his active period from 1988 to 2011, including for the ESV Kaufbeuren in the German Ice Hockey League has played .

Career

John Parco began his career as a hockey player with the Belleville Bulls , for which he was active from 1988 to 1991 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1991 in the twelfth round as a total of 248th player from the Philadelphia Flyers , for which he never played. Instead, he ran from 1991 to 1993 for Asiago Hockey in the Italian Serie A1 . After a one-year break from ice hockey, the winger appeared in the 1994/95 season for the Hampton Roads Admirals in the ECHL and was elected to the league's first all-star team. At the same time, he played several games for the San Diego Gulls from the International Hockey League and the Saint John Flames from the American Hockey League . For the 1995/96 season , the Italo-Canadian returned to Asiago Hockey in the A1 series. In the 1996/97 season he was on the ice for ESV Kaufbeuren from the German Ice Hockey League . There he began the following season , before he moved to the Ayr Scottish Eagles from the British Ice Hockey Superleague for the following year and a half .

In the 1999/2000 season Parco stormed for his ex-club Hampton Roads Admirals in the ECHL. For the following season he was committed by the Cardiff Devils from the Ice Hockey Superleague. The Italian-Canadian last played for his parent club Asiago Hockey in Italy from 2001 to 2011. With the team he was Italian champion in the 2009/10 season . There he was a brief player-coach during the 2004/05 season . He began the 2011/12 season as assistant coach at Asiago before being promoted to head coach in February 2012 as a replacement for John Tucker . In the 2015/16 season he was the head coach of SG Cortina . This was followed by an engagement as a conditioning coach for the ice hockey team at Lake Superior State University . Then, in the 2017/18 season, the Italian-Canadian took over as head coach of the Soo Thunderbirds with play in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey .

International

For Italy , Parco took part in the World Championships of Division I in 2003 , 2005 and 2009 as well as the Top Division in 2006 , 2007 , 2008 and 2010 . He also represented Italy at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .
