Paring is a district of the Langquaid market in the Lower Bavarian district of Kelheim . Until 1978 it formed an independent municipality. The place is known for the Paring Monastery, founded in 1141 .

Paring is located about three kilometers northeast of Langquaid in the immediate vicinity of the district border. About three kilometers southeast of Paring is the market Schierling, which belongs to the Upper Palatinate .

history

Already in the 8th / 9th A monastic settlement is said to have existed here in the 19th century. The Augustinian Canons founded Paring Monastery in 1141 . This went into the turmoil of the Reformation and was only revived in 1598 by Benedictines from the Andechs monastery .

After secularization in Bavaria , most of the provost buildings were demolished in 1852. The monastery was revived in 1974 by the Windesheim Congregation of the Augustinian Canons . Since 1992 Paring is an autonomous provost .

The municipality of Paring, founded in 1818 with the Bavarian municipal edict, with the towns of Paring, Gschwendt, Hellring, Moosholzen and Stumpföd, belonged to the Rottenburg district court established in 1838 and later to the Rottenburg an der Laaber district . It was incorporated into the Langquaid market on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . The actual village of Paring with numerous farms is located under the monastery mountain.

Attractions

  • Parish Church of St. Michael. The former collegiate church goes back to a Romanesque basilica from the time the monastery was founded. The late Gothic church choir was built in the early 16th century. From 1764 to 1769 the interior of the church was redesigned in Baroque style.
