The Saadet Partisi (short name: SAADET ; Turkish for "Party of Happiness") is an Islamist political party in Turkey and was founded on July 21, 2001. It is the political party of a part of the Millî Görüş movement , whose German branch organization Islamic Community Millî Görüş (IGMG) is under observation by the German Office for the Protection of the Constitution . The central figure of the party is the late former Prime Minister of Turkey, Necmettin Erbakan .

The party, like the more moderate Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP), is a successor to the Fazilet Partisi (FP), which was banned the day after the SAADET was founded. The mouthpiece of the Saadet Partisi is the Millî Gazete .

The party's emblem consists of a crescent moon and five five-pointed stars . The big star stands for esteem, reputation and honor (Turkish Şeref ). The two medium-sized stars stand for justice and legal awareness, welfare and prosperity. The two little stars symbolize love, tolerance, brotherhood and peace, as well as human rights and freedoms.

Party platform and ideology

In her party program she defines secularism as neutrality or non-interference by the state in religious matters. The SAADET describes the politics of the USA there as “bloody occupation policy” and “racist imperialism”. The European Union , whose attitude towards the values of the Turkish nation is anyway unacceptable, is also serving this racist imperialism according to the program. Accordingly, the party rejects Turkey's accession to the EU. The Saadet Partisi claims a leadership role for Turkey. Turkey should no longer be a satellite state , but a leading power. She also calls for Turkey's permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council . The German Office for the Protection of the Constitution assumes that the party of happiness is striving for the abolition of secularism and an Islamic order encompassing all areas of life and society. According to statements by the party's deputy chairman, Mete Gündoğan, the movement is aiming to establish Greater Turkey.

The party's website has conspiracy theories on Zionists , Freemasons , CIA and Mossad :

Pointing out that Zionism is exploiting the world economy, Erbakan declared, 'They charge interest on every bread they buy . You think you are just buying bread and you don't even realize that you are paying interest to Zionism. Even the bakeries were started up with money from Zionism. This is how Zionism absorbed the power of money. With the help of the Masonic organizations, he also appropriated the human resources. With the help of both powers he has been working for about 5,700 [sic] years to found a Greater Israel and rule the world. '"

The Internet edition of Millî Gazete , an Islamist daily newspaper affiliated with Saadet Partisi , denies the Holocaust and the print edition of November 20, 2003 claims that Israel wants to form a new Israeli state in northern Iraq and occupy southeastern Turkey. In the same issue it says:

“Because 'Islamist terror' is a […] joint product of America and Israel. [...] Every time you scratch something on the surface of the terrorist attacks, the words 'Made in Pentagon' or 'Made in Mossad' grin at us. "
