Patrick James Bamford (born September 5, 1993 in Grantham ) is an English football player of Irish descent who has been under contract with the English second division Leeds United since 2018 .

Player career

Nottingham Forest

Patrick Bamford, who has been playing in the youth teams of his home club Nottingham Forest since he was eight , made a name for himself with his good performances in the 2011/12 Premier Academy League . On December 31, 2011, he made his debut in the 2011/12 Football League Championship game against Cardiff City . Bamford came on in the 80th minute for Matt Derbyshire and lost the game 1-0 with his team. Just two days later he was substituted on for the second time by coach Steve Cotterill in a 3-1 away win over Ipswich Town .

Chelsea FC

On January 31, 2012, Chelsea announced the signing of Bamford. He will initially be part of the reserve squad. In November 2012 he moved on loan to third division club Milton Keynes Dons and scored four goals in fourteen league games by the end of the season. Due to its good development in Milton Keynes , Bamford was awarded again to MK Dons in July 2013. In the first half of the Football League One 2013/14 , the young attacker made a name for himself as one of the top scorers in the third division and scored fourteen league goals before Chelsea FC decided in January 2014 to loan his youngster to the second division club Derby County in order to further his development promote.

For the 2015/16 season Bamford moved to Crystal Palace on loan . At the same time he received a new three-year contract until June 30, 2018. After Bamford was hardly used there, the loan contract was terminated at the end of the year. At the end of January 2016, he was loaned to Norwich City until the end of the season .

National team

Due to his Irish grandparents, Bamford first played for Ireland before moving to the English Association. On November 19, 2013, Patrick Bamford made his debut in the England U-21 national team in a 9-0 home win over San Marino.
