Patrick Obrist (* 27. February 1993 in Dornbirn ) is an Austrian ice hockey player who since 2015 in EHC Kloten in the National League A is under contract and on the position of the center is used.

Career

Patrick Obrist went through the junior stations of the Dornbirner EC , as well as the Swiss clubs SC Rheintal, EHC Uzwil , EHC Oberthurgau and EV Zug , where he stood out with scoring qualities. He scored 124 points in 30 races for Rheintals U17 in the A-Junior class and was top scorer in the elite novice class in the U17 of the EHC Oberthurgau with 58 points in 25 races.

In May 2012, Obrist was signed by EC Red Bull Salzburg from the Austrian ice hockey league , where he played 50 times for the fighting team and 47 times for the farm team in the following two seasons and was Austrian champion in 2014 with the Bulls .

In the summer of 2014, Obrist moved to the Swiss A division club SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers , who had to be relegated to the National League B in 2015 . Obrist was then signed in April 2015 by A-League club EHC Kloten , with whom he reached the quarter-finals in the playoffs in 2016 and won the Swiss Ice Hockey Cup a year later .

International

Patrick Obrist took part with the Austrian U18 national team in the U18 World Cup 2010 in Division I , where he was relegated to Division II. At the U18 World Cup 2011 of Division II , Obrist led the team as team captain to promotion and was voted the team's best player. In 2012 he was the assistant captain of the U20 national team at the U20 World Cup in Division I and was once again voted best Austrian player.

He made his debut for the men's national team on April 6, 2012 at the Euro Hockey Challenge against Belarus . He came to his first adult tournament appearance five years later at the 2017 World Cup in Division I.
