Patrick Wendisch (born October 3, 1957 in Bremen ) is a German insurance company and former politician ( AFB ). From 1995 to 1999 he was a member of the Bremen Parliament and from 2004 to 2007 President of the Bremen Chamber of Commerce .

Life

education and profession

Wendisch was born the son of the Bremen insurance company Friedel Wendisch and grew up in Bremen. In 1976 he graduated from the Hermann-Böse-Gymnasium in Bremen . He then studied industrial engineering from 1976 to 1981 at the Technical University of Darmstadt and graduated with a degree in industrial engineering specializing in mechanical engineering . In 1981 he worked for the Munich Reinsurance Company's branch in Johannesburg , South Africa . It was followed by the doctoral program at the Technical University of Darmstadt , where he in 1984 with Bert Rürup at the Department of Finance to Dr. rer. pole. PhD. From 1984 to 1985, Wendisch worked in various professional positions in the German, British and US insurance markets , working for the property and industrial department of Allianz , the Hamburg Albingia insurance company and for Willis Farber in London.

1985 joined Wendisch as a general partner in this traditional, from his father further expanded Bremer Insurance companies Lampe & Schierbeck one, which had been founded in 1858, and was one of the general partners. In 1992 he was appointed Chief Representative of the German management of the British Northern Assurance Company . In 1998, Lampe & Schierenbeck merged with the long-established insurance company Buse & Schwartze and went over to Lampe & Schwartze KG . The owner-managed limited partnership is managed by Wendisch together with four other partners.

Wendisch is married and has three children.

politics

At the beginning of 1995, Wendisch joined the voter association Arbeit für Bremen und Bremerhaven (AFB), which was founded in January 1995 by the Sparkasse director Friedrich Rebers , the former SPD economics senator Werner Lenz and others and which lasted until 2002. In the state elections in Bremen in 1995 , the AFB achieved 10.7% of the vote and 12 members of parliament for the 14th electoral period. Wendisch was a member of the Bremen citizenship from 1995 to 1999 .

  • Wendisch has been a member of the plenum of the Bremen Chamber of Commerce since 1998 and has been a member of the Presidium for many years since January 2000. He was elected by the plenary to succeed Dirk Plump as President of the Chamber of Commerce and held the office from January 2004 to January 2007. His successor in the presidency was Lutz H. Peper .   • In 2004 he became a commercial member of the Haus Seefahrt Foundation . In 2006, as one of the three responsible creators, he hosted the 462nd Schaffermahlzeit .
  • In 2013, Wendisch became president of the Eiswette von 1829 , of which he has been a member since 2003.
  • He is a member of the supervisory board of the Bremer Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft .

Controversy

In January 2019, Wendisch attracted public attention when, in his role as President of the Bremen Eiswette Association from 1829 , he insisted on "tradition" and instead of Bremen's Mayor Karoline Linnert invited Bremerhaven's Lord Mayor Melf Grantz to the foundation festival of the Bremer Eiswette . Mayor Carsten Sieling was unable to attend and had therefore previously asked Wendisch to invite his deputy Linnert as the official representative of Bremen to the annual traditional event in the Congress Center Bremen with around 800 guests. However, the ice competition president insisted on the association's statutes and justified the exclusion of women:

“We are a men's club, we don't go along with this gender gaga. Even the Pope would not be invited if he were a woman. "

The "non-invitation" became a nationwide topic in the mass media . The u. a.
