Patrick Wunderbaldinger (born March 5, 1983 ) is an Austrian football player on the position of midfielder . He is currently under contract with SV Horn in the 2nd division , the second highest Austrian division.
Career
youth
Wunderbaldinger began his active career as a football player at the beginning of September 1990 in the offspring of ASV Statzendorf in the small Lower Austrian community of Statzendorf near St. Pölten . There he went through several youth league classes until 1997, before he switched to the youth department of the then Vfb Admira Wacker Mödling as a cooperation player . Wunderbaldinger was registered with his home club in Statzendorf until June 2002, before he was accepted by Admira as an integral part of their Bundesliga and national league teams. Before that, the young midfielder attended the club's own academy for Lower Austria.
Club career
Wunderbaldinger's club career began in 2000 when he was first brought into the amateur team of Vfb Admira Wacker Mödling. He was there until 2005 and rose with the team, including after the 2002/03 season, from the fourth-class Lower Austrian regional league to one of the three third-class divisions, the Regionalliga Ost. After he had already established himself with the amateur team, Wunderbaldinger made his professional debut in the Austrian Bundesliga in the last round of the 2000/01 season when he played the full length of the game on May 24, 2001 in a 0-0 home draw against SV Ried was standing. In the following season 2001/02 he completed another twelve league games, of which he lost ten; the other two ended in a draw. During these twelve missions, Wunderbaldinger also scored the only professional league goal in his career so far, when he scored the 1-1 equalizer in the 3-2 away defeat against SK Rapid Wien on May 1, 2002.
In 2002/03 he came to another six championship appearances for Admira, before he was awarded for the 2003/04 season at LASK Linz in the second-class first division . With the athletes from the Upper Austrian capital Linz , he was in 27 league games before he returned to his actual club at the end of the season. During the 2004/05 season , Wunderbaldinger was still in the squad of the professional team, but he only played games for the amateur team in the RL East. In his last season with the club's second team, the midfielder appeared in 20 league games and scored three goals.
For the summer break before the 2005/06 season , Wunderbaldinger left the club after eight years of club membership to move to the market town of Schwadorf for the local ASK Schwadorf . At this point in time, the club's first combat team was playing in the fourth-class Lower Austrian regional league, the highest division in the state. After a successful season, the midfielder and his team became champions and celebrated promotion to the third-tier Regionalliga Ost. During the 2006/07 season , 19 league appearances and three goals followed. At the end of the season, the team celebrated the championship title of RL Ost with seven points ahead of the PSV team . In a total of only six years, the club from the rather small Schwadorf managed to win five championship titles in a row with the combat team. At the same time as Wunderbaldinger made his Bundesliga debut, the first combat team from Schwadorf was still playing in the second lowest division in Lower Austria.
The main sponsor of the club, Richard Trenkwalder, sent the club into the race with the aim of becoming champions of the second-rate Austrian first division . But the industrialist's dream came to nothing when the team reached eleventh place in the final table. In the summer break before that, Wunderbaldinger left the club for Vienna . There he signed a contract with First Vienna FC 1894 in July 2007 . After a goal from 24 league games, he left the club again to move to the Vienna sports club in the 17th district of Vienna, Hernals , which has its game operations, like Vienna in the previous season, in the Regionalliga Ost.
After a passable season, in which Wunderbaldinger was in all 30 league games and scored four goals, the Vienna SK reached fourth place in the table with 54 points, nine points less than the champions First Vienna FC 1894. After three seasons in Dornbach, Wunderbaldinger moved from the Vienna sports club to league competitor SV Horn in June 2011.
International
Wunderbaldinger has already played for the Austrian U-21 national team and played a game in qualifying for the 2004 U-21 European Championship in Germany . At the end of the qualifying round, Austria reached third place behind the Czech and Belarusian U-21 national teams and thus did not qualify for the European Championship in Germany. In total, he was used in three U-21 internationals, but remained without a goal.
