Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez (born May 24, 1925 in Aguilares , Texas as Ramiro Gonzalez-Gonzalez , † February 6, 2006 in Culver City , Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor with Mexican roots.

Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez was already on stage regularly from the age of seven. Therefore only reached a lower school level and was de facto illiterate . The son of Mexican parents came to film in 1953 via You Bet Your Life . Actually, he only appeared as a candidate for this show hosted by Groucho Marx , but his humorous nature brought him attention and first roles in films. Over time, Gonzalez Gonzalez developed into a supporting actor who often played smaller roles such as Mexican barbers, bartenders, innkeepers or other service providers. He played particularly often in westerns , for example many times on the side of John Wayne . Perhaps his best-known appearance was as hotel owner Carlos Robante in Howard Hawks ' classic film Rio Bravo (1959). He most recently appeared in the comedy A Suit for Every Occasion with Joe Mantegna in 1998 .

Gonzalez Gonzalez was accused in later years of playing mostly Mexican stereotypes as comic relief . For example, he was criticized by one critic as " Uncle Tom the Latino Actor". His grandson, Clifton Collins Jr. , who was also successful as an actor, defended him: “He just always wanted to work. He played the roles that were available and he did well. "

Several times he appeared on the side of his brother Jose Gonzalez Gonzalez (1922-2000), who also worked as an actor. He was married to his wife Leandra for 62 years until his death. In November 2008, Gonzalez was posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
