Pelagia Majewska Gliding Medal
The Pelagia Majewska Medal is an award that was created in 1989 by the international air sports association FAI at the suggestion of the Polish Aero Club in memory of Ms. Pelagia Majewska . Pelagia Majewska was an important Polish glider pilot who had a significant impact on women’s gliding and was able to set 17 world records in gliding. She was killed in a crash in 1988.
The medal is awarded once a year to a female glider pilot who has distinguished herself through a remarkable performance in the gliding sport of the past year or over a longer period of time.
