Perry King
Perry Firestone King (born April 30, 1948 in Alliance , Ohio ) is an American actor .
Life
King, the son of a doctor , was born in Alliance , Ohio . His maternal grandfather was Maxwell Perkins , a prominent publisher for the publishing house Charles Scribner's Sons. He is also widely related to US Senator William M. Evarts and Roger Sherman , one of the signatories of the American Declaration of Independence .
King has been in the American film business since the early 1970s. His best-known role was that of Cody Allen in the crime series Trio with Four Fists from 1983 to 1986. Before that, he was known through cinema appearances, for example in the lead role of the idealistic music teacher Andrew Norris in the school thriller The Class of 1984 . He was also featured in the 1987 television movie I'll Take Manhattan and starred on NBC's Titans series with Yasmine Bleeth . In 1995 he played the role of Hayley Armstrong in the Melrose Place series . King made guest appearances on television series such as Hawaii Five-Zero , Chaos City , Will & Grace , Cold Case - No Victim Is Ever Forgotten, and The Mentalist .
King had auditioned unsuccessfully for the role of Han Solo in the 1977 film Star Wars . However, he took over the role of Han Solo in the radio version of Star Wars and its two sequels. He also made an appearance on Huell Howsers California’s Gold where he talked about his collection of motorcycles and sidecars . In 2004, King played the role of fictional US President Blake in the film The Day After Tomorrow . In the recent past he has mainly played guest roles in television series and supporting roles in smaller cinema productions.
