Brooklyn Blues - The Law of the Gutter (Original title: The Lords of Flatbush ) is an American drama from 1974 about adolescents. Directed by Stephen Verona and Martin Davidson , who wrote the script together with Gayle Glecker .

The film tells the story of four members of The Lords youth gang from Flatbush , Brooklyn in 1958.
Her everyday life is characterized by playing billiards, hanging out and hitting on girls. Chico, leader of the gang and a passionate motorcycle fan, tries to get the new classmate Jane excited. To impress her, he steals a car with his gang and starts a mass brawl with his rival's football club. The rough-hewn Stanley is pressured by his girlfriend Frannie with the help of a fake pregnancy to marry her, which he ultimately does. The intelligent butchey likes to play the clown. Wimpy is a pure follower with no opinion of its own. However, the closer their high school days are drawing to a close, the boys miss a perspective for the future. Stanley's passion for breeding pigeons helps him make down-to-earth plans for the future with Frannie and family planning.

Originally Richard Gere was supposed to play the role of Chico. After an argument with Sylvester Stallone, however, he was fired. Robert De Niro was unable to accept a role in the film due to his commitment to The Final Game . Stallone later joked that the film was on such a low budget that he got paid for his role in t-shirts.
The film was shot in New York and Stamford , Connecticut .
