Peter Lohner

Peter Lohner (born September 11, 1962 in Bremen ) is a German film producer .

life and career

Lohner grew up as the son of German emigrants in California , where his father Edgar Lohner taught comparative literature and his mother Marlene Lohner taught German at Stanford University . His older brother is the composer, media artist and filmmaker Henning Lohner . Peter Lohner studied 1982-1986 jurisprudence at the Universities of Mainz , Geneva and Munich . He did his legal traineeship in Spain for a time . In 1989 he passed the second state examination in law.

His career as a producer began in the 1990s with documentaries about artists such as Karlheinz Stockhausen , John Cage , Dennis Hopper and Gerhard Richter , which his brother Henning directed and had artistic responsibility.

From 1995 to 1997 he worked as an editor for the “Fiction” section at ProSieben in Munich. In 1996 he was a producer for ProSieben in the crime thriller Gnadenlos - Forced to Prostitution . From 1998 to 2000 he was a producer for the film production company Real Film in Cologne, which belongs to the Trebitsch Group . He wrote the script together with Hardi Sturm for the ARD television film Simply the Truth (2013; director: Vivian Naefe ) with Katja Flint , Heiner Lauterbach and Ursina Lardi in the leading roles .

In 2004, Lohner / Esser were nominated as best producers for the VFF TV-Movie Award for the film Stars shine also on the day , which Lohner realized together with producer Wolfgang Esser .
