Peter Maria Stajkoski

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Maria Stajkoski (* 1944 in Meseritz ) is a Polish artist who primarily devotes himself to photography and sculpture.

Stajkoski started doing artistic work in 1972. His subject is always people. He is primarily concerned with portraits of people in their personal environment and in their work environment. In his portraits all the characteristics of the whole human body can be found. The photographs he creates are shaped by colors and the graphic compositions they contain.

His sculptural works consist of iron, steel, stone, wood and mixtures thereof. One of his themes is the female nude. He also created a variety of other figurative representations that are temporarily displayed in exhibitions, galleries and museums and also permanently in public spaces.

Stajkoski was influenced by the order of the human body of the French sculptor Aristide Maillol and the striving for the heights of Wilhelm Lehmbruck , and was inspired by the abstract figures of Oskar Schlemmer , from which he developed his own style for his steel sculptures. In the last creative phase, Stajkoski developed a preference for sculptures made of granite and sandstone.

Stajkoski published photographs in illustrated books about New York and Egypt . He founded and runs the Blaues Haus gallery in Lentzke .
