Peter Roos
Peter Roos (born June 30, 1950 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German writer .
Life
Peter Roos grew up in Göllheim in the Palatinate . In Würzburg , he passed the Abitur at the Matthias Grünewald high school there. His first literary activities included the publication of the literary magazine "experiment" with first publications by Erich Fried , Walter Jens and Martin Walser . Roos studied philosophy , literary studies , cultural studies and rhetoric at the Universities of Würzburg, Bochum and Tübingen, among others with Ernst Bloch and Walter Jens , as well as 'German Area Studies', 'Jewish Studies' and 'Womens Studies' at Washington University in St. Louis ( USA ), among others with Professors David Bronsen and Egon Schwarz , and completed this course with a master's degree . This was followed by a second degree in Italian at the universities of Siena and Perugia .
Roos has been working as a freelance writer since 1975. In addition to literary writing, he works for theater, opera, ballet and film and translates. He writes for Spiegel , TransAtlantik , FAZ , FR , Die Weltwoche , Die Presse , Der Standard and as a cultural correspondent for the newspaper Die Zeit . Roos lives in the old town hall rooms near Marktheidenfeld am Main and in Vienna .
Competitions and scholarships
Ingeborg Bachmann Competition, Berlin scholarship for young authors in the “ Literary Colloquium ”, Munich literature scholarship in the Villa Waldberta zu Feldafing, town clerk in Otterndorf . Travel and work grants from the Italian Embassy in Bonn for the universities of Siena and Perugia, the Ministries of Culture in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, the cities of Bochum, Würzburg and Vienna, the Volkswagen Foundation Hanover, the Foundation for the Promotion of Philosophy Düsseldorf.
