Peter Reichsgraf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht , also Levinus Peter Georg Henning Antonius Maria Apollonia Graf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht , (born March 5, 1929 in Göttingen ; † May 26, 2013 at Vinsebeck Castle ) was a German entrepreneur. From 2005 to 2011 he was general governor of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in Rome .

Peter Wolff Metternich to the canal came from the Rhineland noble family of the Wolff-Metternich . He was the oldest of three children from the marriage of Wolfgang Graf Wolff-Metternich (1894–1967) and Adelheid von Adelebsen (1898–1987).

He married Marie Christine Altgräfin zu Salm-Reifferscheidt-Krautheim and Dyck (January 4, 1932 - December 10, 2010), a daughter of Franz zu Salm-Reifferscheidt-Dyck , the last Prince and , on July 18, 1955 at Schloss Alfter near Bonn Former counts of Salm-Reifferscheidt-Krautheim and Dyck with his death, the 900-year-old family of the former counts and later princes of Salm-Reifferscheidt-Dyck became extinct. Life

Peter Wolff Metternich entertained numerous castles (ex. Castle Vinsebeck , Castle Alfter ), castles (ex. Burg Adelebsen ) and listed structures, real estate, agriculture and forestry farms belonging to the family as founded in 1947 Stiftung Burg Adelebsen with 300 hectares of forest and 280 Hectares of agriculture. Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem

In 1959 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Canali and invested in Cologne Cathedral on December 5, 1959 by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger , Grand Prior of the Order. From 1962 to 1996 he was President of the Order Province of Northern Germany. In 1969 he was also appointed to the office of Grand Master in Rome as Vice Governor.

In 2008, Count Wolff Metternich zu Gracht was appointed general governor of the Papal Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, based in Rome . Pope John Paul II awarded him the Grand Cross of the Papal Knightly Order of St. Gregory the Great on April 20, 1999 for his many years of service in the Order's Grand Master 's office , which was presented to him by Cardinal Carlo Furno .

He was also Knight of Honor and Knight of Devotion of the Order of Malta . For his work in the Diocese of Hildesheim he was honored with the " Benemerenti " medal.
