The Peterskopf in the Palatinate is 493.5 m above sea level. NHN high east spur of the high plateau of Peterskopf and Heidenfels in the Palatinate Forest . The Peterskopf rises in the Palatinate Forest-Vosges du Nord Biosphere Reserve and Palatinate Forest Nature Park in the forest area of Kallstadt . Its summit is 3.7 km west-southwest of the center of the municipality of Kallstadt, 3.4 km north-west of the center of the district town of Bad Dürkheim and 3.6 km west of the Ungstein district ; This forest marking forms an exclave at the Peterskopf , which is separated from the rest of the municipality of Kallstadt by a Bad Dürkheim corridor north and south of Landesstrasse 518. The Isenach flows south past the spur before it runs through Bad Dürkheim.
Parts of the Haardtrand bird sanctuary are located on the Peterskopf (VSG no. 6514-401; 147.28 km² ).

The Peterskopf belongs to the Palatinate Forest natural area, which is classified as a 3rd order Greater Region in the systematics of the handbook on the natural structure of Germany published by Emil Meynen and Josef Schmithüsen and its subsequent publications . Spur height
The Peterskopf is 493.5 m high. Its summit with the Bismarck tower lies in the east of the large plateau of Peterskopf and Heidenfels , which extends above the 450 m height line ; The spur height of about 487 m shown in many maps should refer to a 487.1 m high point slightly northeast of the summit . In the middle of the plateau, near a 490 m high point, there is a transmission tower ( ⊙ ). About 580 m west-northwest of it is on the plateau of the Heidenfels ( 497.9 m ).
Surroundings
There are a number of historical sites in the vicinity of the Peterskopf: about 700 m southeast of its summit are the ruins of the Weilach farm , which was first mentioned in 1381. The stone block of the same name, which served as a cult object in Celtic times, lies on the south-east of the Teufelsstein , and on the south-east of the Teufelsstein foothills, the Kästenberg , the likewise Celtic ring wall Heidenmauer and the former Roman quarry Kriemhildenstuhl . Beyond the Isenach valley lie the medieval ruins of the Limburg monastery and the Hardenburg .
Bismarck Tower
On the summit plateau of the Peterskopf, the 36 m high Bismarck tower offers a panoramic view of the Upper Rhine Plain in the east, the Palatinate Forest in the west and its eastern edge, the Haardt , which extends from north to south, almost 400 m below . A restaurant is operated in the basement of the tower.
On May 27, 1925, the concrete ceiling of the second viewing platform collapsed while a school class was on the tower. One student died and several children were injured.
Sports
Every year in October, the Peterskopf is the destination of the Bad Dürkheim Mountain Run , which, with a length of 8,700 m and a cumulative gradient of 510 m, is the longest and steepest component of the Palatinate Mountain Run series . The spur and its surroundings are also recommended for mountain bike tours.
Traffic and walking
The winding district road 31, which connects Leistadt in the east with Höningen in the west, runs over the northern flank of the Peterskopf . The road leads over the junction ( 468.9 m ) with a forest path near the Forsthaus Lindemannsruhe restaurant ( 470 m ) ; From the hikers' car park there , it is about 700 m to the Sporn summit.
