Petr Míka (born February 12, 1979 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player who has played three games for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League during his career and was active in the Czech extra league for many years .

Career

Petr Míka learned to play ice hockey in his hometown at HC Slavia Prague and went through all the youth teams there. In the 1995/96 season, at the age of 16, he got his first assignment in the extra league team of the HC, the rest of the season he played in the junior team. In the following season he completed 20 games in the Extraliga, where he was able to collect his first points scorer. He also got further assignments in the junior league and at HC Berounsti Medvedi in the first division . In the spring of 1997, she participated in the European Junior Championship, where Míka scored two goals and prepared one in six games. In the 1997 NHL Entry Draft , he was then selected by the New York Islanders , who brought him to North America for the Ottawa 67’s to get him used to the smaller ice surface. In an overall disappointing season in the Ontario Hockey League , Petr scored ten goals and eight assists in 41 games, but then returned to Prague for HC Slavia for one season (six goals and five assists in 49 games).

At the U20 World Cup in 1999 he was part of the junior national team and was able to help them in the relegation round by scoring a hat-trick in the game against Belarus (final score: 10: 2).

For the 1999/2000 season he returned to North America and played for the Islanders' farm team, the Lowell Lock Monsters , in the American Hockey League . On March 21, 2000 he made his NHL debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins - in three games for the Islanders, however, he could not tax any scorer point. In this and the following season he completed a total of 63 games for the Monsters, in which he scored 18 points scorer. In the middle of the second season in the AHL he was transferred to the Springfield Falcons , for which he played 27 games.

The 2001/02 season began Petr Míka with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers , but left after just one game to go hunting for goals for his hometown club HC Slavia Prague. In the following years he kept moving from one Extraliga team to the next, only once did he complete a full season for HC Vítkovice Steel . His other positions within the Extraliga were: HC Havířov , HC České Budějovice , HC Energie Karlovy Vary , HC Plzeň , HC Třinec .

In the 2005/06 season he was with HC Slovan Bratislava in the Slovak Extra League under contract, but was only able to play in eight games due to a knee injury. For the 2006/07 season he was signed by Jan Tabor for the Dresdner Eislöwen and plays on the right wing with David Musial and Troy Bigam in the second row.

In January 2007 the Czech David Balázs was committed to the Eislöwen , so that Petr Míka usually sat in the stands as a surplus foreigner. Therefore, he received the approval of the club and in February 2007 moved to VEU Feldkirch in the Austrian National League . He came to KLH Chomutov in 2008 through HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi and HC Most . In the summer of 2010 he ended his career.
