David Musial (born October 19, 1975 in Opava , Czechoslovakia ) is a former German - Czech ice hockey player who was active in Germany for the Iserlohn Roosters , Krefeld Pinguine , Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg and the Dresdner Eislöwen , among others . He has been working as a coach since the end of his career in 2014 and has been with the Debreceni EAC in the first division since 2018 .
Career
Musial played in Germany for the first time in 1993 when he was part of the EV Landshut squad . For the 1994/95 season he moved to Adler Mannheim , with whom he played in the German Ice Hockey League from then on . The right-handed shooter completed 100 league games in the two years in which he was under contract with the Eagles and scored 34 points scorer. In the summer of 1996 he returned to his Czech homeland. There those responsible for the then first division club HC Olomouc were able to convince him of a commitment in the Czech Republic. Musial, however, only stayed one season at HC and then joined league rivals HC ZPS Barum Zlín .
After the 1997/98 season to the mosquitoes eat moved to the 2. Bundesliga, the trained defender became one of the top performers in the team. He scored 14 points in 25 games. During the current season he signed a contract with Deggendorfer EC , which was then also active in the second highest German division. There he ended the game year and was able to increase his points yield again. For the first time in his career he managed to score more points than he had played in games (34 games, 36 points scorer). In the following five years David Musial changed clubs several times and during this time he played for the Erding Jets , for the ES Weißwasser , for the Iserlohn Roosters and for the Heilbronner Falken .
For the 2002/03 season he was engaged by the management of the Krefeld Penguins , with whom he won the German championship after a 2-3 final win in a best-of-five series against the Rhenish rival Kölner Haie . Then he left the KEV again and joined the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg , who were then active in the 2nd Bundesliga. At the end of the 2003/04 season he was able to move up with the Grizzly Adams in the German Ice Hockey League, in which he came to another 47 missions in the following season. In the end, he could no longer build on his previous performance in the DEL and decided, after his contract in Wolfsburg was not extended, for the Dresdner Eislöwen . He stayed there for a total of two and a half years and switched to the Hanover Indians in January 2008 due to disagreements . In the summer of 2008 he received a contract offer from the second division REV Bremerhaven, which he accepted and thus went on the ice for the REV Bremerhaven in the 2008/09 season . For the next season, Musial moved to Cracovia Krakow in the Polish Ekstraliga .
For the 2010/2011 season Musial moved as a player-coach to the Bayern league club 1. EV Weiden . In December 2010, he resigned from his duties as a coach and was subsequently exclusively active as a player. Before the following season he extended his contract with EV Weiden by one year. In the home game for the championship in the Bayernliga, 1. EV Weiden announced the contract extension for the 2012/13 season. After the successful league season with the Blue Devils Weiden, he suffered a broken rib in game 6 against EC Peiting . At the end of the season, he extended his contract for another year and went into his fourth season with the Blue Devils. After a weak start to the season, he fell out with the coach of the Blue Devils, Viktor Proskurjakow , and switched to EV Regensburg on December 9, 2013 .
He ended his career in 2014 and has been working as a trainer since 2015. His first position as coach was HC Slezan Opava , followed by HC Nový Jičín , Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák and, since 2018, the Debreceni EAC .
