Brauns Heimkehr is a German TV film directed by Wolfgang F. Henschel from 2014 . It is the twenty-second and last episode of the ARD crime film series Pfarrer Braun with Ottfried Fischer in the title role.

action

Pastor Braun learns that he is terminally ill and informs Bishop Hemmelrath of this. At his request, Braun returns to his birthplace in Bad Beuern. It seems strange to him that on the way there a pregnant sheep is herded in front of his car and the young shepherdess does not want a veterinarian to look after the injured animal under any circumstances. He realizes that even in the face of death he has to criminalize again. Fortunately, Commissioner Geiger happens to be spending his cure in Bad Beuern and the two get together for the last time to solve crimes. The involvement of a paper manufacturer and a monastery in dubious efforts to achieve a canonization lead Braun and Geiger to the Vatican, where Bishop Hemmelrath finally receives his cardinal's hat. During the fair, Braun unmasked the perpetrator and died afterwards.

Although the Roßhauptnerin no longer appears in this episode, she is mentioned indirectly and thus closes a circle based on the example of the classic drama: In the first episode ("The Seventh Temple") the rich Catholic sawmill owner Korbinian Rosshauptner from Upper Bavaria is mentioned, his Wife beats and whose divorce is supported by Braun. In the last episode - 11 years later - the rich Catholic paper mill owner Korbinian Strasser appears, beats his wife and asks the bishop to dissolve his marriage.

In addition, Braun hands Armin the letter from the judicial authorities about the end of his probationary period ("You can marry as a free and innocent man."). However, Armin's probation period since “The Seventh Temple” (2003) would have lasted 11 years, while the probation period is in reality a maximum of 5 years ( Section 56a of the Criminal Code).
