The parish church of Our Lady Thrice Miraculous is a Roman Catholic branch church in the 10th  Viennese district of Favoriten at Buchengasse  108.

history

In the period before the First World War , only the two parishes, Parish Church on Keplerplatz and St. Anton von Padua , existed in the 10th district of Vienna, and together they had to look after around 160,000 Catholics. This circumstance led to the establishment of emergency services , including a 20 square meter chapel dedicated to the Mater Ter Admirabilis , which was located on the site of the current parish church. Since its interior could no longer accommodate the growing number of worshipers in the early 1930s, an expansion had to be carried out in 1932.

However, the enlarged chapel was no longer sufficient for pastoral needs in the course of 1933 and moreover quickly proved to be in disrepair, which forced the company to think about a new building. The construction of a complete church did not seem possible at the time, because the high unemployment meant that the necessary costs could not have been raised, which led to the decision to consider a church building in stages.

So the architect was to plans Robert Kramreiter in a first construction phase of the sanctuary built, which should be up to the completion of the second phase of construction are used as a church. On November 16, 1933, Cardinal Innitzer not only consecrated the already completed part of the building, but also consecrated the altar . The second component, which was supposed to include the actual nave and tower , could no longer be realized. On May 1, 1942, the church was elevated to the status of Mother of God Thrice Admirable to the parish church.

In the final phase of the Second World War , the parish church, in the lower church of which there was a dressing station, was badly damaged. A bomb hit destroyed the glass windows on February 21, 1945 and also severely damaged the roof . The church also fell victim to looting and wanton destruction.

In 1946 Josef Ottinger, who had been the driving force behind the construction of the new church since 1932, was installed as pastor and worked in this office until 1969.

When the war damage was repaired, hail and hurricane-like storms destroyed the windows on the west side in 1948 , flooded the church and the lower church and damaged the masonry of the church and rectory.

In 1971, conversions and renovations were carried out, during which the communion bars were replaced by a people's altar and the pulpit was removed. In 1973 the church received its organ , an instrument built by the Walcker company and comprising seven stops on a manual and pedal .

On November 1st, 2015 the parish was abolished and is now a branch church of the newly formed parish Divine Mercy .
