The Roman Catholic parish church of Heiterwang is in the municipality of Heiterwang in the Reutte district in Tyrol . The the feast of Our Lady of the Assumption consecrated church belongs to the deanery Breitenwang in the Diocese of Innsbruck . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

A chapel was built on the current site of the parish church as early as the 14th century. The church was first mentioned in documents in 1423. The Gothic church was built between 1480 and 1490 by Hans Räffl from the Lech Valley . In 1551 the nave was destroyed in the Schmalkaldic War , only the choir and tower were preserved. At the end of the 16th century the nave was rebuilt, although it was smaller than the original nave. In the middle of the 18th century the church was baroque and the nave was extended. The church was completely renovated in 1891/94. There were further renovations from 1900/01, 1931/34, 1967/68 and an interior renovation from 1977/79 by Ernest Pokorny (ceiling paintings) and Josef Kieltrunk (stucco work).

The parish church is located within the walled cemetery on the eastern edge of the village.

architecture

The church is uniformly built as a baroque building. It comprises a four- bay nave with a steep, shingled saddle roof and a retracted choir from the Gothic core. The church tower with the octagonal bell storey is attached to the north side of the choir and is equipped with coupled, arched sound windows, over which it wears an onion helmet .

The interior of the church comprises a hall with rounded corners as well as a flat barrel with the pilasters and a curved cornice . There is a gallery above the entrance .

Furnishing

The current equipment of the church is mainly characterized by a Baroque style in the middle of the 18th century.

Anton Joseph Walch painted the ceiling frescoes around 1750. Joseph Fischer created the late baroque stucco work ; they are also dated around 1750. In 1754 the new high altar made of stucco marble was consecrated. Joseph Keller created the high altar sheet in 1774. The ceiling paintings were renovated in 1891/1894 by the painter Johann Kärle . In 1913 the tower clock from 1703 was renewed for the salary of 1400 crowns .

Franz Weber built the organ in 1891. It was restored in 2004 by the Swiss company Späth Orgelbau .
