Parish church in Croatian Geresdorf
The Roman Catholic parish church of Croatian Geresdorf is located in the village of Croatian Geresdorf ( Croatian Gerištof ) in the municipality of Nikitsch in the Oberpullendorf district in Burgenland . The parish church consecrated to St. Andrew belongs to the Croatian deanery Großwarasdorf of the Diocese of Eisenstadt . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
The church was built in pre-Reformation times. It was originally dedicated to St. Kunigunde . The current church was built in 1795 and renovated inside in 1966 and in 1972.
architecture
The church is a simple building with an integrated facade tower over a curved pseudo- gable . The tower has a pyramid spire . The church has a recessed choir , which is closed in 3/8 on the outside and round on the inside. The nave has two bays. Above this is a square vault between belt arches , which rests on strong pilasters . The gallery in the narrower and shorter gallery has a curved parapet and is located over a wide arch. There is a square vault above the gallery. A round arched triumphal arch separates the nave from the choir bay. There is also a square vault in the Chorjoch.
Furnishing
The high altar was created around 1800 and consists of a cafeteria and a tabernacle with angels. On the wall is an oil painting showing St. Andrew. The pulpit with relief figures of the four evangelists was built around 1800. The baptismal font also partly dates from the 18th century. On the door to the sacristy hangs an oil painting from the first half of the 18th century showing the dream of St. Romuald . It is a copy of the original by Andrea Sacchi that hangs in the Vatican Museums with a view of the Camaldolese monastery on the Kahlenberg stand in Vienna . It was restored in 1969. Like the baroque side altar, it comes from the abandoned Kamaldulenserkloser Landsee.
