The  Roman Catholic  parish church Rotenturm an der Pinka  in the municipality Rotenturm an der Pinka  in  the district of Oberwart  in  Burgenland  is the feast of All Saints  consecrated  and belongs to  the deanery Pinkafeld  in the diocese Eisenstadt . The building is a  listed building .

The church stands in an elevated position west of the main square.

history

In 1489 a church in Rotenturm on the Pinka was first mentioned in a document. It was elevated to a parish church even before the Reformation . Using masonry from the original church, the present church was built in 1733 and rebuilt in 1794. The construction of the tower and the arching of the nave took place under Lorenz Vogl . The church was restored between 1966 and 1968. Another interior restoration took place in 1972.

The church is a simple hall building with a prefabricated east tower with a pyramid helmet . The choir is drawn in and semicircular. Semicircular chapels are built on the side. A portal to the crypt is built into the north wall. Above the lintel is a cartridge with the Erdődy family coat of arms . She is flanked by two armored men. It was built around 1733. The crypt is the burial place of the Erdődy family.

Church interior

Above the two-bay nave there is a wide vaulted square between belt arches . This rests on pilasters . The eastern half yoke is barrel vaulted . The gallery is arched in three axes over a cross ridge . The parapet of the gallery is preferred. Between the nave and the choir yoke is a conical intermediate yoke with double pilasters as a transition. The choir yoke has a groin vault. Above the apse, which is closed on three sides, are stitch caps between broken belt arches. The right side to the side chapel is closed. On the left is the sacristy . Above this is the oratory , which is open to the church, under the vaulted square.

The interior

The high altar was changed in 1966. In the cafeteria there is a tabernacle from the end of the 18th century. The former altarpiece "All Saints", which was brought to Rotenturm in 1662, hangs on the wall. The original picture comes from Federico Barocci from around 1600. The original was replaced by a copy at the end of the 18th century. This was restored in 1972. The altarpiece is flanked by two wooden figures of the holy kings Stephan and Ladislaus . The two figures were created in the fourth quarter of the 18th century. They were restored in 1972. On the right side altar is a Madonna figure made of Carrara marble by C. Steinhauser from 1875. It was originally placed in the castle chapel of Rotenturm Castle . The classicist pulpit with putti and carved decorations was restored in 1972. The votive image of St. Patrick with a saying comes from the second half of the 18th century. It was restored by J. Rath in 1853. The oil painting “ Maria Immaculata ” was painted in 1846 by Kautzner . The group of figures "God the Father in the Cloud Wreath" from 1820 and comes from the former side altar. The fourteen Stations of the Cross are oil paintings in the style of Joseph von Führich . The gilded statuette depicting St. Michael comes from the castle chapel of Rotenturm Castle. It is neo-baroque . The wooden statue of St. John Nepomuk dates from the middle of the 18th century and originally stood on a side altar. The empire chandelier was created around 1820.

organ

The organ was built by Anton Tauss in 1886. On the middle part is a statue of King David from the 18th century.

Bell jar

The bell was cast by Johann Baptist Dival in 1727 .

Part of the crime novel “Vergelt's Gott” by the author Ingrid Sonnleitner takes place in the church.
