Mekhi Phifer
Mekhi Phifer (born December 29, 1974 in Harlem , New York ) is an American actor .
life and career
He began his acting career between the ages of 19 and 21 when he went to a casting for the film "Clockers". Here he was given the main role. He has received a lot of praise from fellow actors including John Turturro , Delroy Lindo and Harvey Keitel .
He also starred in music videos from 50 Cent , Craig Mack , Wu-Tang Clan , En Vogue , Brandy , Keith Sweat and Monica , among others . After various other (small) roles his breakthrough came with the role of "Future" in 8 Mile , in which he played with Eminem .
From 2002 to 2008 Phifer was part of the main cast of the American television series Emergency Room , in which he met the headstrong Dr. Gregory Pratt embodied.
Mekhi Phifer was first married to actress Malinda Williams from 1999 to 2003 . They had a son together.
In March 2013, Phifer married his longtime girlfriend in Beverly Hills. Their son was born in October 2007.
In April 2014 Mekhi Phifer applied for personal bankruptcy . His tax debt of approximately $ 1.2 million and an additional $ 100,000 in legal fees and outstanding maintenance costs forced Phifer to take this step.
In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
