Philipp von Elmpt

Count Philipp von Elmpt ( Russian Филипп Эльмпт ; * 29 September July / 10 October  1763 greg .; † 10 May July / 22 May  1818 greg. In Groß Switten , Courland ) was a Russian lieutenant general .

Philipp was a member of the Rhineland - Baltic noble family von Elmpt . His parents were the Russian field marshal Johann Martin von Elmpt (1726-1802) and Dorothea Katharina Gottliebe von Korff . The imperial field marshal Franz Philipp von Elmpt (1724–1795) was his uncle.

He was initially engaged to Natalia (1775–1844), daughter of the Russian general Alexander Vasiljewitsch Suvorov (1730–1800). The marriage did not come about because of his adherence to the Lutheran faith . So he married the mistress of the Grand Duchess Helena Pavlovna , Anna Magdalena, widow of Budberg , born of Baranov (1777-1845). The marriage resulted in two daughters:

Career

He joined the army in 1772 and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1786 . In 1787 he was with the 2nd Division and in 1788, when he was promoted to colonel, he was also commander of the Ingermannland infantry regiment. In 1798 he received the Order of St. Anna II. Class, in 1798 he became chief of the Tenginsk infantry regiment and in 1799 chief of the "Elmpt" garrison regiment in Kronstadt .

Elmpt was owned by Burgau Castle , and also the heir to Groß and Kein Switten.
