Phillip Noyce
Phillip Noyce (born April 29, 1950 in Griffith , New South Wales ) is an Australian director .
Live and act
Noyce moved to Sydney at the age of 12 . He made his first short films at the age of 18, then from 1973 he studied at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School . For one of his first short films, the documentary Castor and Pollux , he already received the award “Best Australian Short Film of the Year” as a young graduate of the film school. He directed his first full-length feature film Backroads in 1977, followed by the film News War (1978), for which he won numerous Australian film awards . Films like In the Heat of Anger (1981) with Judy Davis , Shadow of a Peacock (1987) and Mostly Deadly Silence (1989) with Nicole Kidman , Sam Neill and Billy Zane in the lead roles made him internationally known quickly, so that he is beginning went to Hollywood in the 1990s.
With The Hour of the Patriots (1992) he established himself as a star director in the United States, so that from now on he was allowed to direct blockbusters with well-known Hollywood actors. With Sharon Stone he shot Sliver , with Harrison Ford Das Kartell , with Val Kilmer and Elisabeth Shue The Saint - The Man Without a Name , with Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie The Bone Hunter . He then returned to his homeland and shot Long Walk Home in 2002 . In the same year the silent American followed with Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser .
In the 2000s, Noyce was again increasingly active for television. In 2011 he directed two episodes of the Revenge series and made two television films.
In the films Sliver and The Bone Hunter , Noyce can be seen in cameo appearances .
In 2002 he was named "Best Director of 2002" by the National Film Board .
Noice is married for the third time. His first wife was the film producer Jan Chapman in the 1970s .
