Catch a Fire (alternative title: Who sows fire ... ) is an American-French-British-South African thriller directed by Phillip Noyce from 2006 . The film is based on a true story.
action
Patrick Chamusso is a worker in a South African refinery. Like all other blacks, he too suffers from the discrimination that the apartheid regime has brought with it. When the refinery is the target of an attack, Patrick Chamusso is targeted by the security service headed by Nic Vos, who suspects him as a terrorist. He is tortured and sees his best friend and colleague killed by the anti-terrorist squad. Chamusso finally finds Precious Chamusso, his wife, in a cell, who was also tortured. He is charged, but shortly afterwards acquitted because Patrick is found to be innocent.
After experiencing discrimination first hand, he can no longer turn a blind eye and decides to take action against the apartheid regime. He becomes a member of the armed branch of the African National Congress , Umkhonto we Sizwe , and turns to terrorism: After training in Maputo , the capital of Mozambique , together with many other voluntary freedom fighters, he plans another attack on the refinery. But from the moment he crosses the border into South Africa again, he is followed by Nic Vos and his people. A race to the refinery begins, which the anti-terrorist squad wins. However, Patrick does not strike where they suspected and so they cannot prevent the first of two planned blasts.
Patrick manages to escape from the cordoned off area around the refinery, but is tracked down and surrenders. Found guilty of high treason, he is taken to the prison island of Robben Island . In December 1991 Patrick was released as part of the abolition of apartheid.
