Pierling is a district of the town of Traunreut in the district of Traunstein with about 50 inhabitants. The hamlet , three kilometers southeast of Traunreut, was the main town of the Pierling community, which existed until 1978.

history

The name Pierling is derived from the personal name Pircho, documented in Freising in the 8th century. Pierling was the seat of a main team at the time of the Electorate of Bavaria . In 1818, with the Bavarian community edict, the political community of Pierling was created, which included the towns of Frühling , Heiming, Hurtöst, Kirchberg, Oberwalchen, Oberweißkirchen, Schlichtersberg and Unterweißkirchen. Kirchstätt , which still belonged to the Pierling team, came to the Traunwalchen community .

On October 1, 1950, the government of Upper Bavaria formed the new community with the name Traunreut from areas of the communities Palling , Pierling, Stein an der Traun and Traunwalchen.

In the course of the municipal area reform, the places Ober- and Unterweißkirchen and Kirchberg came to Palling on January 1st, 1978 , the rest of the municipality came to the city of Traunreut.
