From January 1814 he was on the staff of Marshal Michel Ney and fought under his command in the Battle of Brienne (January 29, 1814). There he was seriously wounded and was taken to a military hospital in Paris that night. On February 18, 1814, General Pierre Decouz died of his injuries and found his final resting place in the Père Lachaise cemetery (22nd division).
