Joseph Paul Pierre Morissette (born November 22, 1944 in Thetford Mines ) is a Canadian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Saint-Jérôme .

Life

Joseph Paul Pierre Morissette was ordained a priest on June 8, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Québec and titular bishop of Mesarfelta on February 27, 1987 . The Archbishop of Québec, Louis-Albert Cardinal Vachon , donated him episcopal ordination on June 12 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Louis Joseph Jean Marie Fortier , Archbishop of Sherbrooke , and Jean-Paul Labrie , Auxiliary Bishop of Québec.

On March 17, 1990, he was appointed Bishop of Baie-Comeau , and on May 2 of the same year he was appointed to the office. Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on July 3, 2008 Bishop of Saint-Jérôme .

During the tenure from 2009 to 2011 he was chairman of the Canadian Bishops' Conference .

On May 21, 2019, Pope Francis accepted his early resignation.
