Piton is a place ("Village") on Mauritius .

The eastern part of Piton belongs to the Rivière du Rempart district , the western part is in the Pamplemousses district . At the 2011 census, the place had 4,942 inhabitants (1,535 in the Pampelmousses district and 3,407 in the Rivière du Rempart district).

Historically, Piton is best known for the Bon Séjour sugar factory, which was one of the largest on the island with a production of 5,800 tons. On September 18, 1882, there was an explosion here that claimed 12 lives.

The Prof BS Upadhyaya Training Center is a school for electrical mechanics. In addition, the Piton State College is another secondary school on site.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-l'Espérance in Piton belongs to the parish of Cœur-Immaculé-de-Marie in Rivière du Rempart .
