Podium - Literaturkreis Schloss Neulengbach is an Austrian writers' association with around 200 members. It was founded in 1970 by Wilhelm Szabo , Alfred Gesswein , Alois Vogel and Ilse Tielsch at Neulengbach Castle in Lower Austria. In 2019 the literary circle Podium received the Lower Austrian Culture Prize in the category of literary initiatives.

From 1993 to 2009 the literary circle Podium awarded the Alfred Gesswein Literature Prize .

Since 2012, the Podium literary group has been awarding the Alois Vogel Literature Prize organized by Barbara Neuwirth . The award, endowed with Euro 7000, will be awarded in the Alois-Vogel-Stadt Pulkau .

Publications

  • Every year two double issues appear in the literary magazine PODIUM , each supervised by a member of the editorial team, whereby one double issue is a country issue with translations of international literature.
  • The book series Podium Portrait has been published since 2000. These small-format paperbacks are “literary visiting cards” of poetry-writing panel members with comprehensive bio-bibliographies including photo and typescript as well as a foreword by an author or literary scholar on the occasion of special birthdays (occasionally also days of death). The series up to number 100 (2019) was supervised by Hannes Vyoral, and since then by Birgit Schwaner.
  • For the Day of Poetry, since 1973 a “poetry leaflet” has been produced in leporello form, each with around 25 poems by Austrian poets. a. sent to Austrian educational institutions. (Editing until 1980 by Doris Mühringer, 1981–1983 by Alfred Gesswein, 1984 to 2005 by Manfred Chobot. The editorial team has changed annually since 2006.)
